Nepal's second COVID-19 patient returns home after recovery

KATHMANDU, April 18: The Ministry of Health and Population said that the second COVID-19 patient in Nepal was discharged after full recovery, on Saturday.


Madhav Raj Tiwari, the press advisor to Health Minister Bhanubhakta Dhakal, said that 19-year-old Prasidhhi Shrestha returned home today. Shrestha was admitted to Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital, Teku on March 23 after her sample tested positive for the deadly virus.


She came to Nepal from France via Qatar on March 17. After coming back home, she had placed herself under home quarantine. The teenage girl was hospitalized for 27 days.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli congratulated Shrestha and entire team involved in her treatment. On Twitter, Oli expressed happiness for her discharge after recovery. 


With this, the number of people to be recovered from COVID-19 has reached two in Nepal. As of Friday, Nepal has 30 coronavirus cases with 28 active cases. Another COVID-19 patient had recovered from COVID-19 and returned home in January.
