KATHMANDU, Aug 9: Nepal participated in the International Linguistic Olympiad (IoL) for the first time in the IoL history. A team of four students from GEMS school led by Chandan Gupta, the co-organizer and co-founder of the Himalayan Computational Linguistic Olympiad, represented Nepal in the 17th International Linguistic Olympiad which was organized in Yongin, Korea from July 29 to August 2, 2019. Himal Acharya, Kushal Pathak, Umesh Yadav, and Subham Jung Karki from GEMS school got the opportunity to be part of the IoL after winning the National round of Olympiad. HCLO has been continuously organizing the linguistic olympiads at the National level since 2017, according to Gupta.
