Swikriti Acharya and Kapil Sharma from Nepal have won the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2022 held in Oslo, Norway. They have won the title of Honorable Mention Award.

Previously, in the competition held in Britain, in 2019, and in Russia in 2021, Kartikesh Mishra and Yubraj Sarda had won the award respectively.
The 63rd International Mathematical Olympiad (World Competition) 2022 is currently taking place at Oslo. In the competition held from Wednesday July 6 to Saturday, July 16, 104 members have participated.
Six students selected from Nepal had participated in the competition. To participate in the competition, the Nepali team arrived at Oslo under the leadership of Deepak Bastola, Chairperson of Mathematical Association of Nepal, along with general secretary of the association Sanat Acharya and treasurer of the association Chabi Dhungana.
The IMO competition has been held every year since 1959. Chairperson Bastola said that Nepal has been participating in the competition since 2017 with the initiative of Mathematical Association of Nepal. He further stated that this year is the sixth year of participation by Nepal. Bastola said that Prof Dr Bhadra Man Tuladhar, Mathematics Education Specialist, has played a great role in the process of participation.
