Nepal’s active COVID-19 case tally surpasses 100,000 with 9,305 new cases recorded in past 24 hours

27,682 new cases, 13,676 recoveries recorded in past three days

KATHMANDU, May 12: The number of active cases of COVID- 19 in Nepal surpassed the 100,000 mark with as many as 9,305 new cases recorded in the past 24 hours.

According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health and Population, 20,362 PCR tests and 424 antigen tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. Of them, 9,305 tests turned out to be positive.

There are currently 101,634 active cases across the country. Of them, 94,343 are in home isolation and 7,291 are in institutional isolation.

Likewise, the health ministry recorded 168 cases of fatality related to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. Also, as many as 4,444 COVID-19 patients recovered in the same time.

Similarly, as of Wednesday afternoon, 12,041 COVID-19 patients are undergoing treatment in ICUs and 285 are on ventilators.

The Kathmandu Valley recorded 3,924 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. Of them, 226 were detected in Bhaktapur, 448 in Lalitpur and 3,250 in Kathmandu.
