KATHMANDU, Oct 21: Nepal on Wednesday reported 26 COVID-19-related deaths, the highest number of fatalities in a single day so far, taking the coronavirus death toll to 791.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 5,743 new cases of coronavirus were recorded on Wednesdeay, taking Nepal's COVID-19 case tally to 1, 44,872.
5,743 persons tested positive for COVID-19 through 20,118 PCR tests conducted at various labs across the country in the past one day.
The Kathmandu Valley saw at least 3,107 new cases of coronavirus in the past one day.
Meanwhile, 2,996 persons who were earlier diagnosed with COVID-19 were discharged after recovery from various health institutions across the country in the past 24 hours. With this latest figure, the country's COVID-19 recovery tally stands at 99, 605.
According to the ministry, there are currently 44,476 active cases of coronavirus across the country.
