The country recorded 3,421 new cases, 1,686 recoveries and 25 deaths on Monday


KATHMANDU, July 26: Nepal recorded as many as 3,421 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, according to the latest data of the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP). This is the highest single day rise  in the last one and half month.


Nepal has been witnessing a sharp rise of COVID-19 across the country after the government decided to ease the prohibitory orders enforced to curb the further spread of COVID-19.

In recent weeks, the number of new COVID-19 cases in Nepal dropped as low as 400. However, the country recorded 3,421 new cases on Monday.


According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MooHP), a total of 12,240 PCR tests and 5,032 antigen tests were conducted on Monday. Of them, 2,391 PCR tests and 1,030 antigen tests turned out to be positive for COVID-19.


There are currently 25,093 COVID-19 patients in home isolations, 2,815 in institutional isolations, 669 in ICUs and 166 are on ventilators across the country.


Likewise, the Kathmandu Valley recorded 677 new cases on Monday. Of them, 677 were recorded in Kathmandu, 125 in Bhaktapur and 197 in Lalitpur districts.
