“Under the provisions of the MOU, the Government has agreed to provide the EU EOM with all possible assistance required for the observation of the elections,” reads a statement issued by the MOFA.

The EU EOM has agreed to maintain strict impartiality, objectivity and credibility in the conduct of their mandate, said the statement.

A similar MOU was signed between Nepal and the EU in September 2007 to facilitate the deployment of the EU EOM to observe the first Constituent Assembly elections held in April 2008.
