Nepal FM in pre-quarters

KATHMANDU, Oct 18: Nepal FM qualified for the pre-quarterfinals of the 13th Soaltee Crowne Plaza Super Sixes Cricket Tournament on Tuesday as the winner of Group E.



Nepal FM defeated International Development Bank (IDB) in its last league match played at TU Ground by 27 runs. Sushan Man Shrestha´s 31 runs off 10 balls guided Nepal FM to the total of 80/2.[break]



Chasing a total of 81 runs, IDB was restricted to just 53/4. Sameer Thakur scored 31 runs off 15 balls while Niraj Basnet grabbed two wickets.



Nepal Investment Bank Limited (NIBL) registered two wins in the third day of the tournament and boosted its chance to qualify for the second round. NIBL defeated Bottler´s Nepal by three runs and in the next match it registered five wickets victory over the host Soaltee Crown Plaza.



Winning the toss NIBL opted to bat first and scored 69/5. Dipesh Thapa was the highest scorer with 26 runs. In chasing the total of 70 runs, Bottler´s Nepal was restricted to just 66 runs with the loss of two wickets.



Meanwhile, the host Soaltee opted to bat first after winning the toss. Soaltee scored 72 runs for the loss of two wickets. NIBL reached the target of 73 runs losing only wicket in 4.3 overs. Niranjan Rana scored 34 runs off 10 balls for the win.



Likewise, Civil Bank, Standard Chartered Bank and Himalayan Bank registered wins. Winning the toss, Civil opted to bat first and scored 73/3 with 32 runs from Bhola Bista. Siddhartha Bank was able to score only 62 runs losing two wickets.

Standard Chartered registered six wickets victory over Agni Air. Winning the toss, Agni scored 64/4 with Gaurav Jain´s 28 runs. Subash Sharma´s 33 runs helped Standard Chartered chase the total of 65 runs without losing a wicket.



Himalayan Bank defeated Embassy of Pakistan by 16 runs. Himalayan Bank elected to bat first and scored 53/3. Sabdeep Singh and Abhishek Jung Thapa´s two wickets restricted Embassy of Pakistan for just 37 runs off 4.1 overs.



Likewise, Embassy of India, Sanima Bikash Bank and Citizen´s International Bank also won its respective matches. Embassy of India defeated Bank of Kathmandu by three wickets. Bank of Kathmandu won the toss and scored 47 runs losing two wickets. Embassy of India scored 51 losing three wickets. Sandeep Kumar was the highest scorer with 28 runs off 13 runs.

Sanima Bikash Bank thrashed Amarawati Travels by 19 runs. Amarawati won the toss and invited Sanima Bikash to bat. Sanima Bikash scored 80 runs without losing a wicket. In reply, Amarawati was able to score only 61 runs without a loss of wicket.



In the last match of the day, Citizen´s International Bank registered 16 runs victory over Century Bank. Winning the toss Citizen´s International scored 67/2 and restricted Century to 51 runs.
