Despite playing with a man-advantage against the visiting team from the very eighth minute, Nepal had to wait until injury time to secure the win. Again, Nepal squandered the chance of scoring a penalty which could have cost the home team dearly. [break]
Nepal had twice got spotkicks in the first half but could utilize only one. Nepali skipper Heman Gurung who had missed a crucial penalty during the semifinal against India converted the first spotkick in the ninth minute. Nepal was awarded with penalty after Bangladeshi player Mahabishur Rahman used his hands to prevent Gurung´s strike from the box in an unattended post. Rahman promptly was red carded for his offence.
Umesh Thapa who had missed spotkick against India once again failed to convert penalty in the 39th minute as he was denied by goalie Aaksash Sikh.
In the group stage match, Nepal had played a goalless draw against Bangladeshi player.
In the remaining time, Nepal piled up immense pressure and made about half a dozens attacks on post but Bangladeshi custodian Sikh made some heroic saves to deny goals to Nepali players.
Bangladesh got back the equalizer in the 68th minute after Kowsar Ali Rabbi made a beautiful display beating two defenders and goalie Birendra Bahadur Chand.
But Aditya Chaudhary restored Nepal´s lead in the first minute of three minutes of added time at the end of match from box utilizing a corner from skipper Gurung.
Earlier, skipper Gurung´s three attacks on post was attractively punched by custodian Ali who also prevented Sumar Hamal from scoring.
"We could not show our full potential," Nepal´s caoch Sunil Kumar Shrestha said during the post match conference adding, "I am not satisfied with the performance as they were under pressure despite playing with a-man advantage."
Bangladesh Manager Md Jewel Rana said that it was really tough for his side to play with a-man down from the very early moments. "But the overall tournament has been a good experience for us and was a great opportunity to learn," said Rana adding, "This will be helpful to prepare for AFC U-16 Qualifiers."
Roberts sent off
Nepali national team coach Graham Roberts was sent off from the players´ box by Indian referee Raktim Shah during Nepal-Bangladesh match. Roberts was sent off in the 32nd minute after he used abusive language against the referee while he was instructing players from the technical box.
This is the first incident for Roberts to be sent off from the technical box. But, it was not the first time Roberts used abusive language against referees and other officials. Roberts however, continued instructing players from the parapet. Though Roberts has not been assigned any duty for the U-16 team officially he has been staying at the players box in all matches played by the Nepali team.
