KATHMANDU, Oct 16: Nepal is set to relegate in the ICC World Cricket League Division 2 after rain played the spoilsport. The second match between Nepal versus Hong Kong in the sixth round of ICC World Cricket League Championship (WCLC) was abandoned after rain washed away the reserve day on Monday.

Both sides had to share a point each after the match was called off. Nepal now lies sixth on the table with nine points from 12 matches while Hong Kong is 4th on the table with 14 points from a same number of matches. Two points are awarded for winning a match in WCLC.

Nepal matches against UAE in the final stage of the championship will only serve as friendly-series with both the teams already relegated to DIvision 2.

The top four sides of the championship will play the World Cup Qualifiers while the bottom four sides are relegated to Division II.

Nepal is set to feature in Division 2 to be organized in Namibia in February, 2018. The top two sides in the competition will reach the World Cup Qualifiers and join the bottom four Test teams and top four teams of ongoing WCLC.
