“We found Tibetan exhibitors interested in paper crafts as well as herbal products from Nepal. They´ve shown keen interest to import these products from Nepal,” said Manoj Dhungana of Trade Export and Promotion Centre (TEPC) - the coordinator of the event.
Stalls of Tibetan traders dealing with sanitary wares, handicraft items and meat products drew hordes of local buyers. Similarly, Nepali buyers were also interested toward paper crafts and herbal products put on display by local traders. The fair saw footfall of more than 400,000.
According to officials of TEPC, Wu Yingjie, executive vice-chairman of Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) of China, termed the exhibition a grand success and added that it has opened up wider possibilities for Nepal and Tibet to promote trade and commerce.
The event, which was organized at a time when Nepal is facing burgeoning trade deficit with the second largest economy in the world, had on display Nepali wooden products, handicrafts, metal crafts, carpets, herbs and thanka paintings, among others. Chinese entrepreneurs on the other hand had exhibited wide range of Tibetan carpets, incenses, garments, shoes, medicines and medical equipments. Drinking water companies, brewing companies and Bank of China too had demonstrated their products. The fair showcased a total of 80 stalls -- 40 each from Nepal and China.
Chinese entrepreneurs said the event provided them a good platform to promote their business and explore opportunities to establish business partnership in Nepal.
According to TEPC, almost all the goods exhibited by the Chinese traders were sold out.
