KATHMANDU, Feb 27: The Nepal Army (NA) on Sunday conducted an integrated drill at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) against plane hijacking based on its emergency action plan.
A special troop of the Buddhabhairab battalion conducted the anti-hijack mock practice in the presence of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Prabhuram Sharma, according to the NA Directorate of Public Relations and Information.

The NA sources said the drill was conducted so that various stakeholders, including the Army could be mobilized in a coordinated and concerted manner against hijack incidents.
The Directorate further shared that various units of the NA, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, National Investigation Department, Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, TIA and National Airlines Corporation, among other stakeholders, participated in the mock exercise.
It was informed that the exercise included various mock activities ranging from plane landing to armed intervention and rescue of detainees in a coordinated way on condition when unscrupulous elements hijack or take hostage the aircraft.
