KATHMANDU, Feb 26: The Oli-led faction of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) dismissed Dev Prasad Gurung from the post of chief whip of the party on Friday.
Gurung, a parliamentarian belonging to the NCP's Dahal-Nepal faction, was serving as the chief whip of the party. Bishal Bhattarai has been named the new chief whip of the party.
KP Sharma Oli, leader of the NCP's parliamentary party, decided to nominate Bhattarai in place of Gurung.

Oli, who is also the prime minister, told the provincial lawmakers of Province 1 belonging to his camp, that Bhattarai has been appointed the new chief whip of the party.
PM Oli's decision to change the party's chief whip comes at a time when he is set to face a vote of no-confidence in the House of Representatives, the lower house of parliament, when the house session convenes by March 8 as per the Supreme Court's verdict.
Lawmaker Bhattarai was elected from Khotang district.
