KATHMANDU, Jan 24: Rival faction of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) led by Puhspa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal has expelled KP Sharma Oli, who is also the Prime Minister, from the party even as an ordinary member.

A meeting of the NCP faction led by Dahal and Nepal held at the party office in Parisdanda in Koteshwor on Sunday took a decision to this effect.

The Dahal-Nepal faction earlier on January 15 had sought clarification from Oli alleging that he was carrying out activities that go against the party's policies. The faction decided to strip Oli off even from the ordinary membership of the party after he chose not to furnish any clarification.

The faction had earlier relieved Oli from the post of the party chairman and chosen Madhav Kumar Nepal as the new co-chairman to Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
