KATHMANDU, Nov 8: Amid the deepening crisis in the party, Prime Minister and one of two chairmen of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), KP Sharma Oli is holding a discussion with some key leaders of the rival faction in the party at his official residence in Baluwatar in the capital.

According to a source close to the party, PM Oli called senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal to Baluwatar to hold discussions. Nepal, who represents the dissident group, is accompanied by other leaders including Bhim Rawal, Raghuji Pant and Surendra Pandey.

Earlier on Saturday, five of the nine Secretariat members of the party sought the consent of Chairman Oli, to hold the Secretariat meeting at the earliest to resolve various differences seen within the party. A team led by Executive Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal made the request to the prime minister to summon the Secretariat meeting of the party during a meeting held in Baluwatar on Saturday afternoon.

However, the prime minister, who had reportedly threatened to split the party if any meeting of any party committees was held unilaterally by the rival faction, has not said anything about their request yet.

Executive Chairman Dahal held an informal meeting of the party’s Secretariat members in Dhumbarahi on Friday. The meeting, however, was boycotted by the leaders close to Prime Minister Oli.
