Stating that the action of political party taking commission from the development projects is against the political norms, Kaski District president of NC, Yajya Bahadur Thapa said it was irresponsible act on the part of UCPN-M to take commission in the pretext of donation from the contractors.
UML Kaski district Office said it was viewing the issue seriously. According to UML district chairman Man Bahadur GC, it was a matter of shame. “Donation makes a mockery of the notion of rules of law from a responsible party which had taken the oath to work solely for the people,” read a statement issued by the GC. He further demanded the formation of a joint technical team of Nepal and China to prepare Detailed Project Report of the Airport project.
Protesting the Maoist´s action NC district president Thapa also seriously objected to the Maoist statement which said the political parties take donation from the businessmen. He further claimed that his party had not taken any money as the donation from the project. “It is the weakness of the Maoists to blame other parties and think others do the same,” said Thapa.
UCPN (Maoist) Kaski in-charge Jhalpani Tiwari on Monday disclosed that he had taken a huge amount in ´donation´ from the contractors. The Maoists took Rs 5 million in donations from three contractors- Kanchanjangha Construction Service, Shankarmali Construction, and PS Construction- for tenders worth 80 million for boundary and leveling work at the proposed airport site at Chhinnedanda, according to Dawn News, a Maoist periodical. Tiwari did not disclose how much money was involved.
