KATHMANDU, Sept 26: The rival faction led by Dr Shekhar Koirala within the ruling Nepali Congress(NC) has announced protest programs against the unilateral decision of the party President Sher Bahadur Deuba on candidates to be elected under Proportional Representation (PR) electoral system.
A meeting of the Dr Koirala-led group held in the capital on Monday announced a sit-in protest at the party office in Sanepa against Deuba’s unilateral decision. The meeting decided to hold a sit-in program for one hour from 12 noon to 1 AM at the party central office in Sanepa on September 28.
The meeting also decided to unveil more protest programs if the proportional list of party’s candidates is not amended by September 30. The rival faction has alleged that President Deuba had unilaterally picked the names of party’s PR candidates from among his loyals while denying a fair share to the party’s rival faction led by Dr Koirala.
