INARUWA, Jan 8: Rival faction leader of Nepali Congress (NC) Dr Shekhar Koirala has said that the party will not form a coalition with any other political parties in the upcoming election.
Talking to media persons on Saturday, Dr Koirala said that the NC will fight alone in the elections. “Leaders and party members of the NC have expressed their intention not to cast their votes for any other party in the upcoming election except for the party's own election candidates,” he said.
Dr Koirala, who was the nearest rival to party president Sher Bahadur Deuba in the recently held 14th General Convention, said that a trustworthy environment has not been created in the party although President Deuba earlier said that he would work for all. “The President should prove what he has promised,” he said.
Stating that it is necessary to update the Nepali people about the discussions made regarding the US-funded Millenium Challenge Corporation (MCC) in the parliament, he said that the legislature, executive, and judiciary are in turmoil. Dr Koirala also stressed the need for the NC and the CPN-UML to work together for the smooth functioning of the parliament.
