NC may bar leaders from holding two positions

KATHMANDU, Nov 25: A draft statute of the Nepali Congress party, which is now being circulated to its party leaders, has proposed that the NC leaders will be barred from holding two positions.  


Nepali Congress General Secretary Purna Bahadur Khadka, who is also the coordinator of the statute drafting committee of the party, presented the draft statute to the party’s top leadership during a meeting of the Central Working Committee held at the party headquarters in Sanepa, on Sunday.


A meeting of the party’s Central Working Committee on Sunday asked the party leaders to come up with their opinions on the draft of the party statute within three days, according to a press statement issued by the NC headquarters.

Nepali Congress leader Prakash Sharan Mahat told Republica Online that the party leaders will hold the extensive discussion on the proposed draft statute before endorsing it.


“There are diverging views among the party leaders on the draft statute,” he said. The party leaders will be presenting their views on the proposed party statute during the Central Working Committee coming Thursday. The party statute is expected to be endorsed by the party's upcoming Mahasamiti meeting.
