Top NC leaders have already agreed that Paudel would be the party´s prime ministerial candidate to lead a majority government.

They have, however, decided to let Sher Bahadur Deuba take the lead in case of consensual government. Deuba has stepped back after the deadline for forming a consensus government expired on Wednesday.

In the meantime, top NC leaders have decided to hold talks with the CPN-UML and Madhes-based parties to garner support for the party´s prime ministerial candidate, said Dr Shekhar Koirala, a central committee leader of Congress.
