A parliamentary party meeting of NC held on Saturday at Singha Durbar took a decision to this effect. The NC central committee (CC) on Friday had taken a decision in favor of a short extension.[break]
"The meeting authorized our parliamentary party leader to take a decision on extension of the CA term by holding talks with other political parties represented in the CA," NC Spokesperson Navindraraj Joshi told Republica.
He said the meeting decided to extend the CA term by reviewing the implementation of the seven-point deal between the major political parties on November 1 and by guaranteeing its implementation.
Joshi stated that the meeting stressed on the need for preparing a calendar of events before taking a decision on CA term extension.
Asked if the meeting took a decision on the length of extension, Joshi said, "The matter will be settled through negotiations among the political parties represented in the CA."
According to leaders, the meeting also dwelt on various deals reached between the political parties in the past and the Supreme Court´s recent verdict on CA term extension.
The meeting also demanded that the government provide compensation to all the people who were affected during the decade long insurgency.
Leaders from the Sher Bahadur Deuba camp also attended the parliamentary party meeting on Saturday. Earlier, leaders from the Deuba camp had boycotted the central working committee meeting in protest of the party´s decision to dissolve various wings.
