KATHMANDU, April 25: The ruling Nepali Congress (NC) and the main opposition party CPN-UML have finalized the names of mayoral and deputy mayoral candidates for four municipalities in Bhaktapur.
The NC decided to nominate Surendra Shrestha in Madhyapur Thimi Municipality, Nishan Dhungel in Suryabinayak, Jeevan Khatri in Changunarayan and Ram Kasula in Bhaktapur Municipality for the post mayor of Bhaktapur.

Similarly, the NC has decided to field candidacy of Subhadra Kafle as the deputy mayor of Changunarayan Municipality. Meanwhile, decisions have been made to field candidates of other parties of the alliance in Bhaktapur, Madhyapur Thimi and Suryabinayak too .
Out of the four municipalities, the alliance had agreed to allocate candidacy for deputy chief of Madhyapur Thimi to the CPN (Maoist Center) and the deputy chiefs of Bhaktapur and Suryabinayak municipalities to the CPN (Unified Socialist).
Meanwhile, the main opposition party, UML, has picked Madansunder Shrestha as the mayoral candidate and Utra Nepal as deputy mayoral candidate of Madhyapur Thimi Municipality.
Similarly, the party has decided to appoint Vasudev Thapa as mayor and Sarita Bhattarai as deputy mayor of Suryabinayak, Rabindra Lachimasyu as mayor and Ranjana Kharbuja as deputy mayor of Bhaktapur and Bina Banstola as mayor and Ramesh Budhathoki as deputy mayor of Changunarayan Muncipality.
While Madansunder Shrestha is the current mayor of Madhyapur Thimi, Thapa is the current chief of Suryabinayak Municipality. Bastola is the current deputy mayor of Changunarayan municipality.
