Organizing a press conference in the capital on Friday, president of the association Lokendra Karki said the championship will be conducted under the supervision of Sihan Enrico Champoli, the chief coach of World Association of Kickboxing Organizations. [break]
A total of 120 players from across five development regions of the country will participate in the event. The championship will feature competitions in three different sections -- light contact, semi contact and full contact -- for a total of 96 medals. According to Karki, the top three finishers in all seven weight categories of full contact will be awarded Rs 10,000, Rs 5,000 and Rs 2,000 respectively.
Dhital sets new national record
KATHMANDU: Nepali swimmer Shreya Dhital set a new national record on Friday during the FINA World Swimming Championships being held in Barcelona, Spain.
Dhital bettered her own national record in women´s 50m butterfly clocking 34.01 seconds at the championships. She had set the previous national record of 34.69 seconds during the 18th National Open Swimming Championship held about a month ago. She finished 58th among 60 swimmers on Friday.
This is the second national record set by Nepali swimmers in the ongoing championship. Earlier, Sophia Shah had set a national record in women´s 200m freestyle clocking 2 minutes 31.79 seconds. Karishma Karki held the previous national record of 2 minutes 37.75 seconds in the event.
Meanwhile, Miraj Prajapati posted his best ever time in men´s 50m freestyle clocking 28.74 seconds on Friday.
