According to ANFA CEO Indraman Tuladhar, the league was postponed due to ANFA´s busy schedule. "The B division league is under way and the super league will be held from Wednesday. Therefore we have to postpone the national league," Tuladhar told Republica.[break]
The national league, which is being held for the first time in the country, will feature 10 teams comprising the top eight teams of the Martyrs Memorial Red Bull A Division League and two teams selected from the A division districts.
ANFA has already decided to host the national league outside the capital to prepare the Dasharath Stadium ground for the AFC Challenge Cup finals to be held from March 8-19. However, ANFA has not yet decided the venue for the national league.
According to Tuladhar, the national league is likely to be held in Pokhara. Morang and Jhapa have also been considered as other possible venues.
Super league from Wednesday
Super league football will kick off in Duhabi, Sunsari from Wednesday. Altogether four teams -- the winners and runners-up of regional leagues held a couple of weeks ago in Jhapa and Makawanpur -- will compete in the super league. The top two teams will qualify for the national league.
The super league, to be held in round robin format, will feature Sainik Youth Club of Jhapa, Mitra Milan Club of Sunsari, Workers Martyrs Memorial Club of Makawanpur and Sangam Yuva Club of Kaski.
Sainik and Mitra Milan have qualified from the regional league held in Jhapa, while Workers Martyrs and Sangam have qualified from the regional league held in Makawanpur.
The winner and runner-up of the super league will bag a purse of Rs 100,000 and Rs 50,000, respectively.
