BHAKTAPUR, Jan 28: The Nagarkot Festival kicked off yesterday at Shanti Danda under the banner 'Natural Heritage Art, Culture, Communal Unity and Ecotourism Development Nagarkot's Progress'.
The three-day festival being held with an objective to conserve art, culture and promote tourism will showcase Nagarkot's local attires, delicacies, agriculture, education and industrial products.
Shanti Park Conservation and Management Committee, District Development Bhaktapur and Nagarkot Municipality are organizing the event with 50 stalls on display that reflect Nagarkot's identity, Organizing Committee Chairman, Dhan Bahadur Lama said.
On the occasion, Minister for Land Reform and Management, Bikram Pandey, unveiled Lord Buddha's statue built at a cost of Rs 15 million and launched the Nagarkot Shanti Park spread over 80 ropanis of land at Nagarkot's Shanti hill.
A master plan of an estimated Rs 260 million is currently underway to build the Shanti Park with viewing tower, meditation and yoga centre and picnic spots, according to Coordinator Lama. RSS
