The four-day event organized at the Bhrikuti Mandap Exhibition Hall drew more than 300,000 footfalls, according to the organizers.[break]
“The event drew more than 300,000 visitors. Exhibitors were very much happy with the turnout,” Grishma Vaidya, a member of the organizing team, told Republica.
Sandeep Goenka, who exhibited Tricot fabric products at the event, thanked the organizers for providing platform to traders like him. “We recorded transactions worth more than Rs 500,000,” Goenka said.
Goenka exhibited products like sweater, caps, tops and mufflers.Robon Dangol, marketing officer of Samsung mobiles, said the event provided them the platform to market their newly launched Samsung products - Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear. “Although I cannot provide exact sales figures, sale was good as youngsters are showing massive interest toward Samsung smartphones”, he added.
Officials of WorldLink, a leading Internet Service Provider (ISP), were overwhelmed with the turnout at their stall. “We added 1,200 subscribers during the event,” Pravin Shrestha, marketing manger of WorldLink, told Republica.
WorldLink had offered heavy discount on installation charge on the occasion of its 18th anniversary. Similarly, it provided subscribers 54 percent extra speed volumes in its Cable Zoom package with speed of 10mbps.
The Maha Mela was organized jointly by Nagarik Daily, a publication of Nepal Republic Media (NPM), and Avid Investment and Services (AIS) with an aim to cater to the needs of consumers ahead of the Dashain-Tihar festive season.
The event featured 46 stalls and 26 pavilions of companies dealing on apparels, electronic gadgets, ornaments and cosmetics liquor, automobiles and furniture among others. The event was sponsored by Samsung Mobile and Ruslan Vodka.
Meanwhile, the organizers have expressed commitment to organize similar events in the coming days as well.
