Sintakala, 26, finished the distance of 42.195 km in three hours 26 minutes and 50 seconds finishing ahead of Sonu Jaya Rai who completed the race in three hours 37 minutes six seconds. Saraswati Khadka of Kathmandu secured third position clocking 3 hours 40 minutes and 35 seconds.[break]
In men´s section, Basnet of Nepal Army clocked two hours 29 minutes and 40 seconds to secure top position for the first time in marathon coming ahead of his departmental teammates Letter Singh Khatri and Uttam Khatri, who finished second and third. Letter clocked two hours 30 minutes and 32 seconds and Uttam clocked two hours 33 minutes and six seconds.
The defending champion and the South Asian Games (SAG) marathon gold medalist Rajendra Bhandari who was leading the race until 37 km finished in fourth after he got hamstring problem since then. Bhandari clocked two hours 33 minutes and 14 seconds.
The top three runners of both men´s and women´s marathon bagged a purse of Rs 100,000, Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively. In total, 79 runners had participated in the marathon including 69 in men´s and 10 in women´s section.
