Kantipur Television’s chief producer Bhusan Dahal directed all the music videos, which are from their upcoming eighth album Mero Desh. Both the album and the videos are produced by nepa~laya.[break]
The album, due release later this month, is a continuation of their 2005 release “Ghatana” and maintain the social and peace themes in their lyrics. “Our album Mero Desh is our musical interpretation of the time we are living in. We wanted to produce a fun filled album this time but the time guided us otherwise,” said Amrit Gurung the front man of Nepathya at the event.
Nepathya’s distinct style of music and statements through their concerts has made them popular in all age groups and from rural far-flung villages to urban centers. The band, since its inception in the early 1990s, has been churning out super hit singles blending folksy tunes with youthful pop and rock numbers.

Among songs visualised are Mero Desh, Juna Jhain, Kasaile Sodhe and Aama, which is an original from their last album Ghatana. “There was a great danger of the music videos being monotonous, which the director has nicely tackled,” producer Shrestha told Republica.
“It was a great challenge to take four videos to production at the same time. There is always a risk of repetition,” said Bhusan Dahal, the director of the videos. “But we have managed to bring different looks to the video,” he added.
The music video Mero Desh penned by the poet Bikram Subba, features frontman Amrit alongside artist David Douglas painting his interpretation of the song. Juna Jhain is a story with lead role by Raju Yakacha as the husband of a young working class couple who takes an utmost care to keep his pregnant wife at ease. The filmmaker revealed the pregnant women symbolised the country as we seek our new identity.
Aama is a proper rock video in a black and white shade. The band performed more than 20 times for the video shoot, informed Kiran Krishna. And the video for Kasaile Sodhe is woven around a normal village character that has lost everyone to conflict and wonders around remembering his near ones. The lead singer plays the character with an unhealed wound on his face, to showcase the post conflict situation of the country.
This is not the first time Bhushan Dahal collaborated with the band. In Sa Karnali, Bhushan worked with Nepathya to produce one of the best Nepali music videos of all times.
