It has the power to make you weep because it’s just beautiful. Music is not something that one can “just” learn. [break]
There has to be the passion and love that matches nothing else, and that’s where all the magic begins.
Music is weird, but I beg to differ. I think music bridges the gap and brings love to all, and perhaps a bit of weeping sometimes, too.
It’s been an awesome two weeks of music releases, from Pop to Hip-Hop to a lot of danceable tracks, all for the Christmas holidays’ that’s coming up.
First stop, the “Baby, Baby” hit maker is out with his Christmas album aptly titled “Under The Mistletoe,” and the first song to hit the radio is “Mistletoe.”
Justin Bieber might not be a favorite of many in Kathmandu, probably because he’s too young to be so rich but his music might be kind of addictive.
The kid seems to be taking things quite seriously, co-writing nine out of 15 songs in the album. Not bad at all! In the album, Bieber has also covered Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” featuring Mariah herself. Worth a listening to!
Rihanna also seems to be doing very well for herself. Her last hit “Love the Way You Lie” with Eminem did magic in the charts and it looks like she hasn’t had enough of collaborating.
This week, the Princess has tied up with the Rock band Coldplay for the new single “Princess of China.” Quite an odd track to listen to at first, but then it’s Coldplay and Rihanna coming together and the music is quite amazing.
Included in Coldplay’s latest album “Mylo Xyloto” which also boasts the track “Paradise” and it’s absolutely worth purchasing.
Lady Gaga is also out with her new song this week. It’s always been apparent that Mother Monster has been a loyal New Yorker.

So it was only a matter of time before she came up with an ode to the city herself. “Marry The Night” is what it’s all about and is like her cult-focused fan base, like a prophet calling upon her disciples. You need to listen to the song and you’ll know what I’m talking about.
The man best known for the One Tree Hill theme song “I Don’t Wanna Be,” Gavin Degraw is out with his 4th album titled “Sweeter.”
In the set, Degraw crosses the boundary by collaborating with another songwriter for the very first time and the lyricist happens to be one of the prominent artists in the scene at the very moment – One Republic’s Ryan Tedder! Tedder has co-written two singles for the album.
As for the title track, the duo has handled its composition as well.
Off the very album, this week on Hits FM 91.2, “Sweeter”, the single, is out and riding high on the airwaves.
After a very long time, it seems forever actually. Red Hot Chilli Peppers (RHCP) is out with their brand new single, “Monarchy of Roses.”
Music channels have been hosting the music video of the song quite repeatedly and you can so tell that it’s an RHCP song. The style, the music, the vocals – nothing’s changed, but it is RHCP all the same!
Also worth lending your ears and attention to would be Karmin, a Boston-based duo who is highly appreciated for their covers of Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass” and Chris Brown’s “Look at Me Now.”
They have their official debut single at present called “Crash Your Party.” Sampling the 1991’s Black Sheep Hip Hop track “The Choice Is Yours,” it’s a fabulous dance-pop tune and the beats and lyrics are awesome. Karmin with a K is here to Crash Your Party!
Another Friday footloose song that has hit our shelves at the station and released this week is “Takeover” by Mizz Nina, a Malaysian Hip hop MC, featuring Flo Rida.
The single might sound a bit 90’s, and frankly it reminded me of Christina Aguilera, but it’s up for you to decide.
