A murder complaint had been filed in Chitwan against Poudel and his associates. A dozen people, including Poudel, have been accused of shooting dead Youth Association Nepal (YAN) central member Sanjaya Lama on Aug 27, and attacking another YAN central member Kamal Pathak on Sept 7.
Poudel was arrested from his relative´s house in Kathmandu.
A highly placed source said police personnel, including those from Metropolitan Police Range Hanumandhoka, found Poudel at 12:45 am inside a water storage tank of a house located between Kalanki and Kalimati in Kathmandu.
The two others were also arrested from the same house.
“We had been watching the house following a tip off about their presence there,” said a police source in Kathmandu. “But Poudel did not get out of the house for two days.”
Eventually, after being told by a boy in the house that his uncle´s friends from Chitwan were staying in the house, police searched the house on Friday.
Police have already arrested one Raju Gurung of Tarun Dal in connection with the murder, while one Yam Bahadur Karki´s involvement in the murder has already been established.
