An emergency repair work on the bridge has completed and it now can support usual traffic, Shaligram Regmi, chief of Western area road division office, said.[break]
Although the road office said two supports were broken, six supports have been replaced. “During the maintenance, we even changed those that had developed cracks,” Regmi said.
Although the initial repair has been completed at the cost of one million rupees, renovation has yet to be completed. “Since it´s vulnerable, further renovation is necessary,” Regmi said. Maintenance work will go on full swing once budget is received, Regmi said. Regmi said the renovation will cost approximately Rs 30 million.
The bridge has load bearing capacity of 15 tons and was constructed by the Chinese government on 2028 BS. Radha Structures and Engineering Pvt. Ltd, a Kathmandu-based company has been doing the maintenance work on the bridge since last Friday.
