CHITWAN, Oct 22: The 14 bridges currently under construction on the Narayanghat-Mugling road will come into operation by the middle of this month. According to Krishna Acharya, engineer of the Nagdhunga-Mugling Road Project West Section (Narayanghat-Mugling), the bridge over Kali Khola near Mugling Bazar came under operation before Dashain, while the work is being carried out to bring the Namche and Tuinkhola bridges into operation by the end of Kartik (mid-November), with only final work of blacktopping and painting of both those bridges remaining.

Acharya said, “There was some delay because the workers returned home for Dashain celebrations. However, the work will be completed by the middle of this month.” He said that the construction of the bridge over the Khahare River will take additional two months due to the need for a wall to be built much lower down for access to the road. According to Acharya, the new construction of all 19 bridges on this road is expected to be completed by the end of Poush.
Similarly, there are 19 bridges on this road. Out of that, a contract for the construction of 15 bridges was signed on March 23, 2020. The four new bridges were previously constructed, with the assistance of the World Bank. This road has been widened from 9 to 11 meters while the bridge has also been made 11 meters wide.
The bridge construction was carried out by the Anak Construction. In Chaitra 2076, the contract for the construction of the bridge was signed at a cost of Rs 1.27 billion. Anak Construction received both the packages as the contract was divided into two packages for three years.
