KATHMANDU, Aug 21: Gyanendra Shahi, spokesperson of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), has urged the Prime Minister K P Oli to create an environment of national consensus to resolve Nepal’s border disputes with India.

In a message shared on social media, Shahi stated that issues concerning Lipulekh, Limpiyadhura and Kalapani are directly linked to Nepal’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and he requested Prime Minister Oli to take action in this regard. He emphasized that all Nepalis should unite during this period.

He said, “We are concerned to see this country, safeguarded and preserved with the blood and sweat of our ancestors, today trapped in various territorial disputes. The borders of Nepal, defended against the British, Mughals and Tibet, are a matter of pride for us.”

Shahi expressed serious concern over the recent agreement between India and China, which included Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura without Nepal’s consent. According to him, such an agreement raises questions regarding Nepalese national integrity.

He stated, “At this sensitive moment, the need for all Nepalis to unite has increased further. No type of agreement is acceptable on the matter of nationalism.”

He added, “Only through national unity and cooperation can we protect our sovereignty and territorial integrity. All Nepalis are ready to move forward together.”

Shahi’s social media status reads as follows:

Honorable Prime Minister,

I wish to draw your attention to the current situation in Nepal, and particularly the challenges related to Lipulekh, Limpiyadhura, and Kalapani.

We are concerned to see this country, safeguarded and preserved with the blood and sweat of our ancestors, today trapped in various territorial disputes. The borders of Nepal, defended against the British, Mughals, and Tibet, are a matter of pride for us. However, the agreement between China and India, including Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura without Nepal’s consent, raises serious questions about our national integrity.

At this sensitive moment, the need for all Nepalis to unite has increased further. No type of agreement is acceptable on matters of nationalism.

Therefore, I earnestly request you to take immediate initiative to bring together all political parties, civil society leaders, various organizations, and the general public to create an environment of national consensus.

Only through national unity and cooperation can we protect our sovereignty and territorial integrity. All Nepalis are ready to move forward together.
