More than a dozen firms raided

KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): The Department of Revenue Investigation (DRI) conducted raids on more than a dozen business firms over the past week, suspecting tax tax evasion. Teams deployed by the department raided business firms in capital as well as in the Lumbini zone. ´In Lumbini zone, raids were conducted on factories producing tobacco products,´ Khum Raj Punjali, director general of DRI, said, adding: ´The raids were conducted for three days starting Tuesday based on tip-offs from reliable source.´ DRI officials also conducted raids on firms operating in Satdobato of Lalitpur and Balkhu and New Baneshwar of Kathmandu. Those firms were dealing on tobacco, cosmetics and plastic products. The teams have taken all bills and other related documents of the firms under its control for further investigation.
