KHOTANG, March 26: The government had introduced a program to convince a number of people to get health insurance so that no one will have to face untimely death due to lack of money for treatment. As a part of this campaign, a total of 3,142 individuals in Khotang have purchased health insurance policy.
According to Ram Bahadur KC, chief of District Hospital, Khotang, more than 3,000 people have registered their names and taken their identity cards for health insurance as of mid-January 2018. Registration was open in the district from the first week of January.
Those people have already started getting the service from February 13, informed Dr KC. Health workers deployed in various parts of the district are still registering names of people for the health insurance. KC informed that more people are getting attracted toward health insurances in Khotang.
Locals enthusiastically participated in the campaign after hearing that a family of five members will have to deposit Rs 2500 per annum for health insurance to get health treatment of Rs 50,000 when needed.
