NEW DELHI, May 19: Moon Pradhan has been elected as the District Director of the Toastmasters International’s District 41 covering Nepal and Northern India, becoming the first female from Nepal to head the position.
Pradhan assumed her new role during the district conference held over the weekend in New Delhi, India, which was attended by members from across the region. She will lead District 41 for the next year.

The conference also featured speech contests, where Nepali contestants swept the top three positions in the International Speech Contest. Saheel Baral, the winner of the contest, is now advancing to the regional contest with hopes of competing in the World Championship of Public Speaking. Dipesh Chalise and Vaishali Pradhan secured the first and second runner-up positions, respectively.
“District 41 encompasses parts of North India and Nepal, a region rich in diversity and potential. As we embark on this journey together, I am mindful of the challenges that lie ahead,” Pradhan remarked.
Pradhan, a Knowledge Management and Communications Specialist at an international development organization, leads the Gender Equality and Social Inclusion project and career guidance component. She is actively involved in various rights organizations, advocating for a better world for women and children.
Toastmasters International consists of about 270,000 members in over 14,200 clubs across 148 countries. It is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to building confidence and teaching public speaking skills through a global network of clubs that meet both online and in person. Members prepare and deliver speeches, participate in impromptu speaking sessions, and give and receive constructive feedback in a supportive community or corporate environment.
