KATHMANDU, Jan 9: Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Bidya Sunder Shakya has claimed that monorail service will start in Ring Road Monorail in Kathmandu valley during his tenure to the post. Speaking with Shree Ram Paudel for Nagarik Frontline, mayor Shakya reiterated that China-based Railway Construction Company has already submitted the project as feasible and the project’s detailed project report (DPR) will be prepared within six months and the entire construction works can be accomplished within next two-and-a-half years.
Meanwhile, mayor Shakya clarified that the recently imposed 'Pick and Drop' was implemented to reduce the ongoing traffic congestion of the area.

Likewise, talking on the air pollution of the city, mayor Shakya said that the pollution could not be controlled until the construction of the Melamchi Water Supply Project is over.
Similarly, mayor Shakya informed that the KMC will identify places to establish 42 smart public toilets.
