The market monitoring team dispatched by the Sunsari DAO sealed three store rooms of the Dharan-based drug maker. One room contained glucose raw material, while the other two rooms had glucose packets ready for market.[break]
Manoj Chemical Works imports glucose from India and sells it using its brand name.
The team has taken sample of glucose being repackaged in the company. It has told promoters of the company to furnish its license at the DAO.
“We have asked the promoters to furnish the company´s license so that we can ascertain whether or not the company is allowed to sell products imported from India using its brand name,” said Ganesh Timsina, market monitoring officer at DAO.
The market monitoring team had raided the company following complaint that the company was sending expired products in the market by repackaging it.
Timsina said the monitoring team found the storeroom dirty. “Products like glucose, which is used as an energizer, should be kept in a clean place. But the company´s store was very dirty,” he added.
Manoj Chemical Works is promoted by industrialist Govindaram Agrawal. Agrawal also owns Dharan-based Manoj Pharmaceuticals and Shiv Pharmaceuticals.
Meanwhile, Manoj Agrawal, manager of Manoj Chemical Works, denied sending expired products to the market. “We had some old stocks, but it was kept separately. We never send the old stock to the market,” he added.
