KATHMANDU, Oct 17: Department of Drug Administration under the Ministry of Health and Population will soon carry out field inspections of drug stores and pharmacies in major four cities - Kathmandu, Pokhara, Nepalgunj and Biratnagar - in the first phase.
The Department will update the number of the clinics, pharmacies and drug stores as it does not have accurate data on it. The date of manufacture and expiry, the price and way and place of storage among others would be scrutinized during the inspection. It is believed that a large number of clinics might be running without registration.
Health Minister Gagan Thapa today reached the Department office at Bijuli Bazaar and directed the officials to carry out the inspection even in the Ayurvedic clinics informing that the Drug Act would be amended for the same. He directed the Department officials to continue the inspection as an effective campaign.
Director General of the Department Narayan Dhakal briefed the Minister that the department was failing to conduct the supervision and inspection due to shortage of manpower but will carry out the inspections soon. RSS
