Mobile app launched for monitoring construction works

KATHMANDU, Aug 23: The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Management have started monitoring the infrastructure development projects running under its aegis through use of information and technology.

KATHMANDU, Aug 23: The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Management have started monitoring the infrastructure development projects running under its aegis through use of information and technology.


The Department of Road (DoR) today introduced an IT application for monitoring the under-construction bridges. Through the software named 'Bridge Side Monitoring System Application', four hundred under-construction bridges can be monitored on a mobile phone. It will also provide information on the bridge's situation.

The app will also be handy in acquiring information on the damages incurred in the eventuality of flooding and landslides.


Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Management, Ramesh Lekhak, launched the service stating that the local community's demand for bridge construction will be addressed after the expansion of the road network.


The development of a technology to acquire information on the condition of the bridge during natural disasters is a positive aspect, Minister Lekhak said while issuing instructions for immediately reconstructing the bridge infrastructure damaged during the massive earthquake.


On the occasion, World Bank Country Manager, Takuya Kamata, stressed on need for effective monitoring to complete the construction of roads and bridges. RSS
