KATHMANDU, Oct 4: Health Minister Gagan Kumar Thapa has directed Nepal Medical Council (NMC) to hold its meeting immediately.
After the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) demanded a policy regarding appointments, the NMC has not called a meeting for several months.
NMC to act against four doctors in Dhulikhel suicide case
Minister Thapa directed the NMC on Monday to call the meeting, according to the sources close to the minister. The meeting of the NMC will discuss the demands of Dr Govinda KC, who is on his ninth fast-unto-death since September 26. Meanwhile, sources at the ministry said Minister Thapa is planning to take action against Vice Chancellor BP Das of BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences from the cabinet meeting. VC Das has been accused of distributing scholarships arbitrarily.
