Minister Paudel commits to expand university education to int'l level

KATHMANDU, Dec 21: Minister for Education, Science and Technology Devendra Paudel has said that the government will expand the education of Nepali universities to the international level.


Minister Paudel made such a commitment at a function organised on Wednesday to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Kathmandu University and Vishweswara Yoga Research Institute in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.

KU is seeking cooperation for the possibility of conducting programs related to Yoga science, health management, hospitality and other programs in Indian cities as part of the university's internationalization campaign.


The MoU was signed in Tirupati in the presence of Minister Paudel and Kathmandu University Vice-Chancellor Dr Bhola Thapa. The KU team, which is on a week-long visit to higher education institutions in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, discussed the possibility of conducting a joint degree program at Madras Diabetes Research Foundation in Chennai. Ku has plans to discuss similar issues with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad.
