Stating that public spaces in Kathmandu are being encroached upon and exploited, she called for an in-depth discussion to stop such activities.
“Migration and Urbanization is one of the major concerns at the moment. However this is also an opportunity and how we use it is the important thing at the moment,” Minister Jhakri said.
“How does the current federal government work in the municipalities? Is it a grant or an investment? Urban development is a very serious issue. We have built such small streets, there is no empty space except Tudikhel. We have also barred it with nine feet tall railings, the general public is not allowed at all. There is so much encroachment and exploitation of public land in small parks. How to stop the encroachment of the public sector is a big challenge for us.”
The program was inaugurated by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.
