KAVRE, Feb 2: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Gokul Prasad Baskota, has urged the private schools to stop commercializing education.
Addressing the 13th district convention of the Private and Boarding Schools' Organization Nepal (PABSON) here today, Minister Baskota said, "Mere fluency in English speaking does not suffice to be proud of quality education. The education must incorporate children from ordinary family background. They must be catered quality education."
Doing business in the name of education must be stopped, he asserted, arguing that the educational institutions have so far catered such education that the youths have left the country for jobs. Commercialization of education in the name of privatization must come to an end, the Minister underscored.
"It was found that a parent paid up to half million rupees for the admission of his/her child at nursery level. What's it? Isn't it a business in school education?" He wondered.
He, however, said the government would not padlock the private schools. "Don't worry government closes private schools based on the report of the education commission," the Minister added.
Minister Baskota also inaugurated the Panauti Cup Football tournament organized at Panauti municipality on today itself. RSS
