KATHMANDU, June 29: Balendra Shah, the mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC), has directed private schools operating within the metropolis to ensure that their teachers receive salaries on a par with those of public school teachers.

KATHMANDU, July 16: Citing the ongoing crisis induced by the COVID-19 pandemic, most of the private schools haven’t paid their staff for over six months now. Some schools have even asked their teachers and staff to go on unpaid leave. Some teachers and staff have even criticized schools ousting them from their jobs. Till this day, 300 teachers from schools across the country have been asked to go on unpaid leave, leaving them unemployed and frustrated.

KATHMANDU, Sept 14: Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security Gokarna Bista has urged all the private schools in the country to enlist in the contribution-based social security scheme by October 17.

Despite being a teacher at a community school, he had no faith in the quality of the education provided by community schools. However, this year he admitted his daughter to Jana Secondary School, a community school, in 9th grade.

KAVRE, Feb 2: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Gokul Prasad Baskota, has urged the private schools to stop commercializing education.
