Minimum wages of informal sector workers upped

KATHMANDU, Aug 18: The government has hiked the minimum wages of workers in the informal sector beginning July 17, 2023. With the new decision, the monthly wage of informal sector workers is fixed at Rs 17,300.

KATHMANDU, Aug 18: The government has hiked the minimum wages of workers in the informal sector beginning July 17, 2023. With the new decision, the monthly wage of informal sector workers is fixed at Rs 17,300.


Likewise, the wage of tea estate workers is fixed at Rs 13,893 per month.

The minimum wages determined by the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security is published in the Nepal Gazette, marking the formal beginning of monthly wages.


The minimum basic salary of the workers is fixed at Rs 10,820 and Rs 6,480 is dearness allowance.    


For the tea estate workers, the minimum basic salary is fixed at Rs 8,943 and Rs 4,959 is dearness allowance.
