Nepali nationals likely among the victims
KATHMANDU, Oct 3: Six people were killed when the Mexican Army opened fire on a truck carrying migrants, including Nepalis, near the Guatemala border. The nationalities of the deceased have not yet been confirmed.

According to The Hindu, 33 migrants from Nepal, India, Pakistan, Cuba, and Egypt were in the truck. The incident occurred 40 kilometers north of the Guatemalan border on Tuesday evening.
The Mexican Ministry of Defense stated that the army fired after the overspeeding truck failed to stop at the patrol’s order. Four people died at the scene, while two others succumbed to injuries in the hospital. Ten others were injured, and 17 remaining passengers were handed over to immigration authorities.
According to media reports, action has been taken against the two soldiers responsible for the shooting. Reports suggest the migrants were likely being trafficked to the U.S.
