Melamchi sees rise in water level; safety alerts issued

KATHMANDU, July 1: The Melamchi rivulet has witnessed a rise in its water level following incessant rainfall on Wednesday.


Rise in the water level has triggered fear among locals once again.

The rainfall that continued since Wednesday afternoon has put the settlements  in Helambu  in Melamchi at risk.


Nepal Police has cautioned the general public to adopt high alerts measures with the rise in the water current.


The local people residing in the downstream areas have been alerted to shift to the secured places with the potential rise in the floods.


According to the Weather Forecasting Division, the downstream areas of the rivulet are more vulnerable to floods.


A massive landslide and flash flood killed scores of people and displaced hundreds of families last month in Helambu and Melamchi area. RSS
