Meet Prof Dr KC's demands: NHRC to Govt

KATHMANDU, March 26: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has drawn attention of the government towards resolving the issues pertaining to the hunger strike of Prof Dr Govinda KC through dialogue and talks.

A team led by NHRC Member Sudip Pathak monitored the situation of Prof Dr KC by meeting the latter at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital where the orthopaedist is in a hunger strike by putting forth a 10-point demand.According to doctors involved in Prof Dr KC's treatment, the level of ketones in KC's urine has increased and hence has suffered from the urine infection along with low blood pressure. Doctors said that KC's health condition is deteriorating.

NHRC Spokesperson Mohana Ansari said that the government was urged to address the concerns of Prof Dr KC through dialogue and talks.

Meanwhile, the CPN-Maoist has expressed solidarity to KC's hunger strike stating that the agitation was aimed at ending ill-practices in the health sector. Issuing a press statement, party spokesperson Pampha Bhusal asked the government to immediately implement agreements made with Prof Dr KC in the past.
