Indian PM Modi pledges IRs 100 crore for building Ramayan Circuit


Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said the Jayanagar-Janakpur railway has been expedited to enhance the connectivity between the two countries. Modi received hearty welcome at Janakpur where he received civic felicitation. The visiting prime minister also expressed India’s commitment to become partner in Nepal’s growth and development while stressing deep, stronger and historical friendship between the two nations. Meanwhile, at Kathmandu, Modi was conferred with Guard of Honor at the VVIP lounge of the Sainik Manch, Tundikhel. 



Police intervene BSP’s silent protest against Indian PM Narendra Modi


Police have intervened at the office of Bibeksheel Sajha Party (BSP) to remove banner that welcomed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi but remarked that Nepali people “hadn’t forgotten the blockade.” One of the party’s leader said that the government’s decision was against the right to protest peacefully.

Fourteen people injured in bus accident


As many as 14 people sustained injuries after a passenger bus (Ga 3 Kha 7744) en route to Pokhara from Baglung met in an accident while overtaking another bus at Dobilla of Kushma Municipality-8 in Parbat. Those injured are undergoing treatment at Parbat District Hospital.  


UN chief appeals for calm after Israel, Iran escalate tensions in Mideast


UN secretary general Antonio Guterres called for an immediate halt to "all hostile acts" to avoid "a new conflagration" in the Middle East after Israeli forces bombed Iranian targets inside Syria. Iran's Foreign Ministry strongly condemned Israel's attacks and called it a blatant violation of Syria's sovereignty.Israel and Iran have long fought each other through proxies, and with the new exchange each seemed to be sending a warning that a direct clash between them could swiftly escalate.


Europe struggles as pollution piles up


Plastic pollution is surging and could, according to UN Environment, exceed the weight of fish in the oceans by 2050. Europe has sent just over half the plastic waste it used to ship to China to other parts of Asia since Beijing’s environmental crackdown closed the world’s biggest recycling market in January. The knotty problem is what to do with the rest.
